Hi,

First off I would like to say the on behalf of APS we are very pleased to join VAGOC.co.uk as a official sponsor and I hope that we can be of assistance and offer value to the forum both on and offline.

Our main website can be found here: www.autops.co.uk

And our webshop: www.apsshop.co.uk

To give a bit of background about APS:

We started up in January 2006 operating from our workshop in Brackley, Northamptonshire. We continually reinvest in the latest main dealer specification test and diagnostic equipment as well as training programs for our technicians so we can cater for the most up to date vehicles and their service needs.

APS offers servicing and tuning solutions for most Volkswagen Audi Group cars and also Porsche as well. We are main agents for more or less all the leading after market manufactures and we are also the UK Sportec importer.

Our tuning programs range for a stage 1 type ECU optimisation through to complete tuning packages with sports exhaust, bigger intercooler, fuel pump etc etc. You will notice that our website does not list specific tuning programs for individual cars, rather we encourage perspective customers to get in touch with specific requirements or ideas and then we can suggest the best selection of upgrades to meet those needs.

The service programs we offer range from basic oil and filter through to major spec services, fault finding and diagnostic work. We do also have main dealer specification four wheel alignment facilities and also air conditioning servicing as well. All our service work is carried out using only main dealer parts.

I hope this helps to give some overview of what we are able to offer to you, if I can be of any assistance please do drop me a line, best is email, ed@autops.co.uk

Best regards,

Ed

It's time. I ordered it tonight, but I need to decide by tomorrow morning if I want resonated or non-res before he places the order to Milltek. I don't like being too loud when driving around in normal mode. At the same time I don't mind if the non-res can rise the dead in full throttle. Let's hear your opinions

BTW another question. For those who run Stg1 with no exhaust or any other mod, what boost pressure do you have in VCDS after 6.000rpm to the redline?

Thanks.

I had a couple of settings configured when I bought the car... local dealer has reset them back to standard and I'm keen to apply them again. My dealer doesn't know where to find the settings i'm after.

Need to set up DRL so rear lights are on when front DRLs are on

Need to remove the convenience window function

hi guys

just letting you know how i got on from ordering the milltek exhaust for my 2.0 tdi dsg a3 on the broup buy, so i thought i would let you guys know what i think of it seeing as jimmy told me there are not many 2.0 tdi a3's on here with the milltek. i will do the best i can.

so here goes

first of all the look of the rear end is now finished off 'PICS TO COME'(apart from spacers) and the dual exhaust jet tips looks amazing. not too big not too small. just perfect.
had it fitted at awesome gti on thursday 2nd and although i did notice a deeper tone whilst driving it hard straight away, i expected it to be a bit louder inside the cabin.
come the next few days letting the milltek bed in its a COMPLETELEY different exhaust. everyday i drove it i could hear it getting louder and deeper and the note from the exhaust is simply stunning... at this point! i just want it a tad louder :D
the noise it produces a deep 1 symilar to the s3 when you put your foot down half way at about 1900 revs although obviously no way near as loud. but it really is a nice sound. not too boomy when driving however amazing when you give it some.
the throttle response has improved significantly and also the way the car wants to 'keep going' at the top end of the revs is what i couldnt believe.
the exhaust note at the top end of the rev range is stunning. its an amazing deep tone which you can hear above the music. especially with the dsg when i knock it in manual, 4th gear 40 mph to 60 mph and upshift to 5th this is where the smile goes on your face. the depth and tone is amazing. go through a tunnel and wow just comes into mind.
mine being dsg the noise from the exhaust when in manual mode, upshifting, i have experienced twice a parpy noise from the exhaust which is stunning and the turbo noise is immense. the lower you are in the rev range the deeper the tone seems to be.

just as i thought thast was it. i asked my bro to drive it a day after i had it fitted to see if there was a little difference and yep, there was!
2 days after i went back to awesome gti for some stuff. i thought i would ask one of the guys to drive my car as it has nice empty roads whilst me being outside could experience the noise of what the milltek gives. even the guys said for a non resonated system on the diesel it did seem a bit quiet from inside but it has got louder since! so happy days!

anyway stood by the side of the road. standing start, the words that came out of my mouth were 'jesus mary and joseph' and alot more others!!! i couldnt believe that my car actually sounded that amazing. me thinking the milltek was only one for performance and less noise well i was quite rong because they have hit every nail on the head. with or without the launch control, it dosent matter. every gear from a standing start the noise is simply amazing. mix the deep tone of the s3 at the low revs with an immediate raspy-ness of the astra vxr in the mid range both together with a slight turbo whistle and this is what you end up with. i am not exagerating. it has to be listend to to be appreciated that much and when the car dissappears into the distance you get that low deep rumble tone which is amazing.
i also find that when the milltek is at full heat and the engine at full temperature you get the best from it.

in conclusion the non res milltek for me has now been a 'should i buy it because it looks good and its a milltek?' to a 'im 100 percent happy i bought it because it simply ticks every box. it is the noise you want from a diesel car. stunning peice of kit...it simply drives like a different car now!!!
thanks to all you guys who helped on the group buy i greatly appreciate it.

oh and another thing guys... i havent even got the downpipe or a remap and i cant believe the sound it produces... bring on next pay day!!!!

anyone near to my area is welcome to have a listen. pm me

i hope i helped you guys

regards

ian

1) names on phone-book show last name first
2) On the RNS-E, when I access missed calls, received calls and dialled they are also mixed up with no chronological order.
Any tips?

We went for a drive on the curvy mountain roads early in the morning with some friends from a local internet board, and the S3 impressed me. Z4M couldn't really keep up in the curves and would barely keep up in the straights, but what a glorious soundtrack . 996 carrera4 was marginally better than the S3 but I think it was the driver that made the difference. He was a GREAT driver and knew each bend inside out. Fortunately the EvoX couldn't come with us today so he didn't embarrass me AGAIN

I am not trying to impress anyone, and I don't really consider the S3 superior to the other cars, but I was really surprised. I didn't expect the S3 to be that good against the C4 and the Z4M. Really happy about the "wooden steering", heavy, slow, under-steery station wagon of mine. :D

I didnt think my mk5 gti would stay standard for long but i never thought i'd have had so much done in so little time, My milltek has bedded itself...

I didnt think my mk5 gti would stay standard for long but i never thought i'd have had so much done in so little time, My milltek has bedded itself in very nicely now and the growl has begin to show through after almost 600 miles. I ordered an ECS dogbone mount which i picked up from the post sorting office today and fitted as soon as i was home. it's been said before somewhere but this is how they should be from VW, much better gear change, feels less sloppy under braking (well, engine braking) and the power onto the tarmac off roundabouts has been improved too, if you aint done this yet.... do it! for £35 you'd be daft not to.

I then had an urge to go and get my car on a rolling road so i phoned Dave at PDTuning and booked myself in for a test run. was pleased to see an average of 205 BHP which would have been due to the milltek non res C/B system and the K&N panel filter........ but that wasnt enough:rolleyes:
so i asked Dave to fit one of his own custom remaps, these are tried and tested on all manner of 2.0l TFSI engined cars and i'm very very happy with the results

262 BHP and 315ft/lb of torque:rock:

the drive home was within usual traffic but the pulling power in 5th and 6th is sublime.

I had planned on having the car revo'd but to be honest i'd had it in my head that 250 brake would be enough for me.

Going out to give the car it's final mod of the day...... a VAGOC sticker then out for a drive later when the roads have quietened down

Very happy with my remap (especially at the £299 price tag including the before and after power runs:cool:) and i'd highly reccomend Dave at PDTuning to anyone looking to have their car sorted out.

So whats next on my agenda........ it'll have to be Wheels, W.A.L.K kit, Springs and then ICE. in that order

Loving my GTI to bits, much better than my old A4:love:

I currently drive a 58 plate emocion red leon fr tdi mk2. The car was the first scottish guinea pig for the Custom Code dpf delete stage 2.
The car is currently running on an aggresively tweaked map at 240.6 bhp and 432 ft lbs of torque.
Hopefully there will be some fellow ayrshire peeps on here also! And maybe get a few meets on the go.

As above over the last two week every corner of the car seems to be making bonging/twanging noises coming from the springs but only seems to do it at parking speeds or sometimes if you hit a bump in road. Can hear it all the way through the car inside when it does it on each corner.

Any ideas? as I rung Stattlers who said its normal & does it on there car. But why doesnt it do it on my mates cars with the same H & Rsprings on the same car & why would it only happen within the last two week?

ok some people say 50k on a TT is daft

or I get "gay hairdressers car" all the time.

Well I have had quite a few mid range sports car and only got the TTRS on a wim and infact was not that pleased with it 100% after owning a BMW CSL and a tuned Porsche Cayman the RS felt....well poor, no not poor that's to harsh as I did like it, just not good enough and sports mode was unusable.

But how time and cash can change a few things .

1st off I was supriseed how the RS was bigged up on the forum, full torque from 1600rpm smooth etc etc.

Well I thought the standard map was ****, I thought it was a fault, but no the standrad TTRS map is lacking in so many ways and has many dead areas it was great on WOT though but you cannot drive like that lol.

I have spent cira 2k but I think it's worth it and any TTS owner wanting to upgrade is going to love it if they do the same.

Any way I have a GPS meter, the same as EVO use to test the cars for the mag here are my STANDARD 3rd gear rolling times.

40-60 - 2.2 seconds
50-70 - 2.39 seconds
60-80 - 2.58 seconds

Now I have had fitted the 2nd decat pipes a new pannel filter and the REVO map.

Tuned 3rd gear times all run the same as before
40-60 - 1.82 seconds
50-70 - 1.84 seconds
60-80 - 1.99 seconds

massive gains

as a note here are EVO R8 v10 roll on 3rd gear times
40-60 - 2.3 seconds
50-70 - 2.3 seconds
60-80 - 2.3seconds

and here are the mighty GTR 3rd gear times

40-60 - 2.1 seconds
50-70 - 2.1 seconds
60-80 - 2.1 seconds

so all in all is a RS worth the upgrade over a TTS, well if you want 120k performace for 45k then yes

here are my 4th gear times standard.
60-80 - 3.22
70-90 - 3.43
80-100 - 3.64

tuned
60-80 - 2.56
70-90 - 2.71
80-100 - 2.92

the tuned car is just so much faster.

I don't need any more performance and will NOT be having any more tuning work for speed.
I only might get a intercooler next spring ready for the hotter weather.

I did also today have the H&R ABR's fitted as of yet I have not been able to test but 1st feel on the round abouts is much better controll and less understeer.

I also might fix the performance Haldex in the spring aswell, but I will wait and see how I get on.

I will not be buying a race exhaust system, I think the money is better spent on PSS10's and a few beers

but I might buy a light set of 18" rims and a set of R1R semi track tyres in the spring with the other mods planned.

I had REVO btw and the guys at the TT shop looked after me, the new place is very nice, and the 1st time I have been, it was a long time ago I had a tuned Mk1 TT and visited them.

on a side note traffic was very bad on the way home so a steady run home got 36.8 mpg which was great and remember this is a low tax band car so a cheap car to run day to day for the performance.

On another note which was an amazing bit of luck, I came acorss a GTR giving it beans and I just stayed a bit behind him, but we hit a duel carraige way and he floored it and pulled over and slowed, he waited till I got level and he floored it again, the funny thing was I edged ahead lol, then it was all over as a it was only a short bit of carrage way, but I bet he had a shock

My mate owes a GTR so I will post a vid of a real TTRS v GTR some time soon, I still think he will edge away, but will be intersting.

if you look at GT3 times or normal R8 times then they would be left for dead.

So a fun day all in all

Hello all,

I know that most of you are far more lucky then me, just because all your sweet rides are much "younger" then my A3 8L, but since most of you actually know your stuff I have a question for the experts.

My 8L is pre-restyling (1997), and since I had a small crash and busted a headlight I decided to change them for the restyling ones. I know all the steps to change them, my only issue is that so far it's been kinda hard to get the restyling ones at a decent price. The only ones I can find are for a Left Hand Drive car. I know that most of the cars, have diferent headlights depending if they are RHD or LHD.
Does anyone know if the restyling ones have this diference as well? and if they do, is there any way to work around this, since I'm considering installing a after-market Xenon lights?

Hope I made myself clear.

Thank you all
Best regards
Pedro
